About this Panther

Daniel, a.k.a. "Dan the Man", was born on July 17, 1975. He has lived in the Conejo Valley for most of his life, since he moved from Carson, Ca to Newbury Park with his family in 1979. He started Kindergarten at Banyan Elementary School and never had a problem when it came to making friends. He was well liked by everyone, enemies he had none. Daniel excelled at everything he did. He played many different sports while growing up and was voted M V P in both baseball and football his freshman year. Daniel graduated from Newbury Park High School in 1993.

He attended the Oxnard college fire academy in 1994 receiving numerous certificates in training and would graduate from it in 1997. Shortly After graduation Daniel landed a job with the California Department of Forestry (CDF) as a seasonal Fire Fighter. He was stationed in Tulare County, Fountain Springs, and Station 38. Daniel continued working with CDF until 2001, which was when he received notice that his health was failing and he only had 50% of his lung capacity. His lungs where being destroyed with every asthma attack he would have.

For all that have been blessed with wonderful memories of Daniel knows what a wonderful man he was. His big heart matched his bright smile that would brighten up the darkest of rooms. He was a wonderful uncle, son, brother and friend. Daniel will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten. I thank god for the 32 years we got with him however short it seem and I know I’ll see him again. I love you Daniel, you will forever be my baby brother.

Love always,
Your sister Joanne

How they Passed

On March 14, 2008, Daniel came down with the flu. As it normally did when he got sick, his asthma flared up. On the Friday morning of March 14, 2008 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Daniel went into cardiac arrest at his home. 911 Emergency units responded almost immediately after several minutes administering CPR and shocking his heart. The paramedic’s attempts to bring life back to him failed. As they brought him out of our home on the stretcher, they passed my mother and I. Daniel still was not breathing. As the ambulance took off sirens screaming, my mom and I headed for the hospital. We rushed into the emergency room asking for him, when they had a nurse come out to tell us Daniel was gone. Daniel died from Lobar Pneumonia with complications due to asthma at the age of 32.
